Red Sands Shore

Named for the sands colour along it’s coastline, the Red Sands Shore encompasses the lower middle of the island, along the Northumberland Strait.

From the Confederation Bridge at Borden-Carleton, you are less than a half-hour to Summerside, or about 45 minutes to the capital city of Charlottetown. Take time to explore Gateway Village as you exit the bridge, featuring lots of unique shops, the Marine Rail Museum, 2 Lighthouses, and an information bureau on site.

This coastline is most noted for its fresh seafood, shopping, red sand beaches, stunning views of the Confederation Bridge; and the vibrant and historical city of Charlottetown, where the Fathers of Confederation met in 1864 to plan the creation of Canada. You will find several historical sites to visit and the downtown area is busy with local talent performing at pubs and lounges. Explore the waterfront along Victoria Park and water activities at Peakes Quay.

Nearby Cornwall is home to Red Rock Motor Sports and at Rocky Point, visit the Skmaqn-Port-La-Joye -Fort Amherst Historic Site with wonderful views of the harbour. There are three lighthouses and two provincial picnic parks in this area which now leads to the charming Victoria-by-the-Sea.
