This area encompasses Metropolitan Cape Breton and the Marconi Trail, from historic Louisbourg to Sydney Mines. Most frequently accessed by Hwy #105 or Rte #4 as you enter from the Cabot & Bras D’Or Lakes Trails.
Attractions are plentiful and include: the Sydney Mines Heritage Museum & Fossil Centre at Sydney Mines; the Superferry service to Newfoundland at North Sydney; the city boardwalk along the Sydney waterfront, the Casino Nova Scotia and many museums at Sydney; the Membertou Heritage Park at Membertou; Open Hearth Park and Historical Society Museum at Whitney Pier; the Fort Petrie Military Museum at New Victoria; the Colliery Lands Park at New Waterford; the beach park at Dominion; the Savoy Theatre at Glace Bay; the Cape Breton Miners Museum at Quarry Point; the Marconi National Historic Site at Table Head; the fossils and coal seams in the cliffs at Donkin; and the magnificent Fortress Louisbourg, National Historic Site of Canada.
