Miramichi River Route

This entire area is most famous for it’s namesake, the Miramichi River; the world-renown salmon angling along it’s shores; and the strong Irish, Acadian and Aboriginal cultures that thrive along this route.

Enjoy the Miramichi River with it’s celebrations, boat tours, tubing and salmon angling. You’ll find varied accommodations including hotels, bed & breakfasts and camping along this route.

Where to Eat, Stay & Play while touring this area

You’ll find several national historic sites and many historical attractions including the waterfront Ritchie Wharf Park; the Beaubears Island Shipbuilding National Historic Site and the Boishébert National Historic Site in Miramichi; the Salmon Conservation Centre at South Esk; the Metepenagiag First Nation at Red Bank; New Brunswick’s oldest covered bridge at Doaktown; and the Central NB Woodsmen’s Museum at Bolestown.

This route travels from the city of Miramichi (also on the Acadian Coastal Drive); to the city of Fredericton; joining the River Valley Scenic Drive.
